Clinical and Histopathologic Review of 57 Cases of Adnexal Masses below Adolescence

Abstract
Clinico-Pathologic as well as statistical study were made on a series of 57 cases of adnexal masses in patients below adolescence.
@ES The results were as follows:
@EN 1. The average age of patients were 17.4 years old.
2. The symptoms of adnexal masses were acute abdominal or pelvic pain(29.8%), chronic pelvic pain(19.3%), abdominal distension(17.5%) in orders and there were noasymptomatic cases.
3. The diagnosis of adnexal masses were made by using both physical examination and USG in 71.9%, and by using CT in 17.5%.
4. In terms of tumor size, 55.6% of benign ovarian tumor was below 5 cm in diameter, 88.9% of malignant ovarian tumor was above 10cm in diameter.
5. The most frequent benign ovarian tumor was benign cystic teratoma(46.2%) and the most frequent malignant ovarian tumor was dysgerminoma(33.3%).
6. The complcations of voarian tumor were torsion(8.8%) and rupture(8.8%).
7. Antibiotic therapy was performed as for the treatment of adnexal inflammatory disease. Observation or unilateral salpingectomy were performed as for the treatment of ectopic pregnancy. Unilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, unilateral oophorectomy
or
cystectomy were performed as for the treatment of benign ovarian tumor, Unilateral salpino-oophorectomy was most commonly performed(55.5%) as for the treatment of malignant ovarian tumor. Total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy
was
performed in 11.1% of malignant ovarian tumor. Adjuvant chemotherapy was performed in 55.5%.
